Vocal River and the Circle of Song

Recently I had the amazing privilege of studying Vocal River with Rhiannon at Hollyhock, Cortes Island, in B.C., Canada. Such beauty emerged, healing, letting go, setting free, and intense collaboration and connection through vocal play, harmony, singing and movement. Keep Calm and Take the Stage!

Open Mic Night Sunshine Coast This week I am happy to present a new event that I hope will become a regular happening locally....Keep Calm and Take the Stage !! This is an opportunity for students, and emerging singers to step out and perform in front of an audience, in a friendly and supportive environment. It doesn't matter what level of experience you have, we are all a work in progress when it comes to singing and playing...there is always more to learn and room for evolving and discovering new repertoire, new songs, new ways of performing older repertoire, and new genres. Hosted by InsingC Choir, this friendly event is open to ages 10 and [...]

Then I thought…what do people want to know about ? Technique ? How to actually sing ? How to improve how they are already singing ? How lessons can help ? Voice Science ? Vocal health? Hmm again. I could go on and on for hours about all this and more. I can tell you all about voice qualities, and alignment, breathing, resonance, articulation, registration (have you fallen asleep yet?) emotional connection, endorphins, throat chakras, primal sound, the diaphragm, how to learn songs…and yep, there’s more. I went to my academic bookshelf and thought about the endless information about singing and the voice I can give you. But I didn't write anything. I’m in my Masters year at QLD Conservatorium this [...]
