Open Mic Night Sunshine Coast

This week I am happy to present a new event that I hope will become a regular happening locally….Keep Calm and Take the Stage !!

This is an opportunity for students, and emerging singers to step out and perform in front of an audience, in a friendly and supportive environment. It’s great to have a performance goal to work towards when you are learning to sing and play…as in most cases that’s why we do it…to get out there and have the buzz of performing.

It doesn’t matter what level of experience you have, we are all a work in progress when it comes to singing and playing…there is always more to learn and room for evolving and discovering new repertoire, new songs, new ways of performing older repertoire, and new genres.

Hosted by InsingC Choir, this friendly event is open to ages 10 and up, and the choir will open the night. The format will be fairly relaxed, and will cater to people being able to bring a backing track to sing to as they start their journey into performance. This is a place to start and progress from, rather than an end result. Having to stick the the timing, tempo and pitch of a backing track can be great training and groundwork for gaining the confidence to move on to accompanying yourself on an instrument or collaborating with musicians.

Keep Calm and Take the Stage will be offered as a structured weekly workshop series later in 2014, which will focus on the many aspects of healthy singing and performance, with individuals having a performance goal and culminate in a concert performance at the end of the year, where singers will be mentored and progress through to a performance with a live band. If this is YOU please email your expression of interest via the contact page. Numbers will be limited.

Come and Join us on Thurs 10th April, 6:30 pm for 7pm start at Alfrescos Garden Cafe…dinner bookings are essential…you might witness the start of a great career, the fulfillment of a dream…and have lots of good fun!

Hope to see you there!
